Don/Doff Firefighter Handy Hook (Long Version)

The "Don/Doff Firefighter" was Handy Hooks first design at 6" long which mounts securely to your bunker pants or coat, holds your gloves extremely well, allows you to "Don" each glove single-handedly and will also offer the option to "Doff" each glove single-handedly. The longer base offers a more secure glove don as well.

The Hooks

Handy Hook is a single-handed glove donning system built for firefighters.

By pushing your wrist against the black body of the Hook, where the logo is located, the user can push down and out, releasing the glove with their hands already inside. The “hook” part of the tool acts like two fingers pinching the gloves together, making the process smooth, quick, and natural.

The Backplate

Handy Hook has gone through several versions of backplates, and is always adapting. These newest plates mount onto bunker gear using dog eared plates with Phillips head screws to tension. No holes in the gear - they just tightly pinch the fabric together.

Will Handy Hook work with any glove?

Handy Hook will work better with gloves that have a rolled sewn cuff that makes for a stronger hold and allows the Handy Hook to work more consistently. They will not grab the cotton or nomex gauntlet extensions unless you roll them inside the glove so the Handy Hook will grab the rolled sewn cuff.

Which Hook is Right for Me?

  • The Compact (shorter version) is good for firefighters who usually crawl around more. It’s less likely to get caught on things while you maneuver around the scene.

  • The Don/Doff (longer version) is good for firefighters with bigger hands or who don’t necessarily need a shorter hook. The length makes it easier to don your gloves, which can make donning time even faster. It also comes with an added bonus of hands-free doffing when you’re done with your gloves
